About Me
AI is powerful, fickle technology. It is both a general purpose technology and a cognitive one -- we value it because it can do some of our thinking for us, but thinking is messy. The difference between a successful AI rollout and an abandoned effort often comes down to a proper understanding and handling of people and processes -- not just technology.
After a 25-year career in the tech world, in roles from software engineer to operations to product and program management, not to mention founder and partner, I'm in a great spot to help translate the promise of generative AI to concrete, lasting gains for your team and your business.
After obtaining a computer science degree at Cal at the end of the last millennium, I worked for several years as a software engineer. I had always been fascinated by the nature of intelligence, and from 2003 to 2008 I earned a PhD in computational neuroscience at MIT.
During my graduate work, I fell in love with Bayesian statistics, and I co-founded two companies aimed at applying this technology to various scientific and commercial domains. The second company, Prior Knowledge, was acquired by Salesforce in 2012. I spent more than three years at Salesforce as a product manager (my first time with that title).
In the ten years since leaving Salesforce, I have cofounded a venture studio, run a national "AI for cities" hackathon, and held various software development roles at a startup focused on EV charging orchestration.
